The Vice President of Sales at Griffin Media helps drive the Ideal Team Player culture and leads with humility, passion and positivity.

Job Summary: As the Vice President of Sales, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the entire sales department of Griffin Media including TV, radio, digital and out of home in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa. You will play a pivotal role in organizational health while driving revenue growth, developing and implementing sales strategies, managing the sales management team, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets across all platforms. In addition, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining a collaborative work environment for the sales division, ensuring the teams work together to achieve planned targets. Reporting directly to the Griffin Media President, you will contribute to the company’s overall business strategy and be instrumental in shaping its success in the marketplace.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Sales Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and execute the sales department’s strategic plans and initiatives in alignment with the company’s overall objectives.
    • Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to identify opportunities and potential areas for growth.
    • Set sales targets and forecast future sales performance based on data analysis and market insights.
  • Sales Team Management:
    • Recruit, hire, and train high-performing sales professionals.
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to the sales management team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Set clear performance expectations and regularly evaluate individual and team performance against sales goals.
    • Implement performance improvement plans when necessary and recognize and reward outstanding achievements.
  • Sales Operations:
    • Develop and optimize sales processes, ensuring efficiency and consistency within the teams.
    • Oversee the sales forecasting and budgeting process, working closely with finance and other departments.
    • Implement and utilize sales performance metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Cultivate strong customer relationships, particularly with key clients and strategic partners.
    • Participate in high-level sales negotiations and help close important deals to secure business opportunities.
    • Ensure the sales team maintains exceptional customer service standards and satisfaction levels.
  • Sales Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare regular reports and presentations on sales performance, sales trends, and market analysis for senior management.
    • Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions and adjust sales strategies as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing, content, and IT, to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to business growth.
    • Keep the executive team informed of sales progress, challenges, and opportunities.

Job Schedule: This is a full-time position primarily working Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Skills and Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Proven track record of successful sales leadership and achieving revenue targets.
  • Five or more years of proven successful sales management with roles in the media industry including TV, radio, digital and/or out of home.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret sales data to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing sales teams.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and leadership development.
  • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business priorities.
  • Proficiency in Wide Orbit, Sharebuilders, Nielsen and Comscore is preferred
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and have a driving record acceptable to the company.
  • Capable of handling the physical and mental requirements including:ability to verbally communicate in English
    • ability to read computer monitor information (words and data)

    • ability to remain sedentary and to travel to work location
    • ability to perform manual dexterity tasks with hands, fingers
