InsideNoVa, a multi-media company that publishes a number of award-winning newspapers, magazines, websites and niche products throughout Northern and Piedmont Virginia, is looking for its next Business Development superstar., which was founded in 2003 is Northern Virginia’s leading news website. and parent company Rappahannock Media LLC serve some of the wealthiest, highest educated and most diverse communities in the country.  Its weekly community newspapers provide top-quality local news, sports and feature coverage to high-income households targeted through a mix of paid and free delivery. The website has over 800,000 unique visitors a month and nearly 100,000 opt-in email subscribers.

This opportunity provides unique flexibility to work from home and set your own hours.  Some travel is required within the region to meet with clients. Position Overview:

  • Conduct in-person meetings with existing, past, and potential clients in the immediate region. Through detailed probing and excellent listening skills, gather information and create marketing solutions using InsideNoVa products and services
  • Maintain and build a list of prospective clients to pursue, build relationships, notify of updates, new programs and opportunities
  • Learn and share the reasons and benefits of advertising in InsideNoVa products
  • Create, calculate, and present marketing opportunities to clients and prospects
  • Provide accurate and detailed information on client needs to appropriate internal departments to implement program, such as production, billing, and graphic design
  • Build strong relationships with clients, peers, and community leaders
  • Attend all required training and sales meetings, company events and networking events in the community
  • With a strong attention to detail, offer final approval on ads prior to publication
  • Meet monthly sales goals
  • Obtain credit information and help collect balances due from customers when necessary.

Position Requirements:

  • Proficient in MS Office/computer, research, and math
  • Have a ”service” or ”sales” mentality – ability to know how to conduct a Customer Needs Analysis (CNA), follow up with presentation and have proven ”closing” skills
  • Ability to attend required number of face-to-face client meetings and to provide transportation for timely arrival. 
  • Curiosity and passion to stay on top of all local competitive media (daily and weekly publications, broadcast, cable, direct mail, out of home ads, digital, etc.)
  • Conduct all interactions in a positive, professional manner
  • B2B or outside sales experience a plus
