Baker Radio Group is looking for a talented Sales Manager for their 6 station cluster and to oversee Online.
About the market:
Fort Wayne is a $24M-$26M market with 25 radio stations (17 FM/8 AM); a city metro population of 220,000 with 500,000 in the 6 county MSA, this is the 2nd largest community in IN. The population is 60% 18-64, with 27% under the age of 18. Ft. Wayne is now being touted a great place to retire and is known to be one of the faster growing communities in the US. It has received numerous awards for being a top place to live, has received a 5 Star Quality of Life award and was voted #2 out of 300+ as being the Best City to earn and save. The cost of living is 10% less than the national average, the median home sale is $94,900.

About the Market Manager:
President & Market Manager, Jane Swan is an award-winning broadcast professional with more than 25 years of experience. Ms. Swan has been awarded Radio’s Ink’s Radio Wayne award for GM of the Year in 1990 and is also recognized as one of Radio Ink’s Most Influential Women in Radio. She has extensive experience in building strong clusters and a loyal, successful team of managers. She has been with Baker since 1995.
About the Job:
This is a wonderful opportunity for that talented seller with a desire to move up into management under an excellent mentor.
- There is immediate growth potential for either Station Manager or General Manager
- Cluster will have multiple sales teams. Sales Manager will be responsible for hiring, training and in-field coaching of sellers
- Sales Manager will have the ability to package all stations together for presentations
- The Sales Manager will meet on a weekly basis with the Market Manager as well as have strategy meetings with PD, webmaster and Promotion Director to develop client and station promotions
- Sales Manager will meet daily with sellers to keep updated on activity, issues and needs. There will also be a 1 hour sales meeting with ALL managers and sellers in addition to management training
Candidates must have the following:
- 5+ years of outside B2B sales experience, preferably in radio or other media
- Previous management or leadership experience required
- Experience using MS Office, Internet and social networks
- Proven revenue generation
- Proven record of growing market share
- Advertising and/or multi-platform selling a plus
- Previous knowledge of media research a plus
- A team player with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency
The compensation package will include a base salary with a strong incentive plan for bonus. Excellent benefits are included starting at 60 days.
