
1. Try to never send “To Whom It May Concern” or “Dear Hiring Manager”
2. Research the company to find out if you may know of anyone that you can refer to when leaving a message
3. Have a dedicated phone number that will guarantee you get messages
4. Record a professional message on your phone
5. When leaving messages, talk slowly from a predetermined script – KISS
6. Give your phone number twice
7. Don’t ask them to call you back, they won’t, tell them you will continue to call (the fear of that may get you a return call!!!)
8. Utilize all three forms of mail – e-mail, snail mail, voice mail
9. Give them reasons to want to talk to you
10. Return calls promptly
