Sample Job Profile - Business Manager
 

A Business Manager in broadcasting is responsible for all financial transactions.

 

Listed below are the duties, skills and experience that may be required (but not limited to) for a Business Manager:

 

Duties

  • Provide financial support for VP/GM of television or radio station(s)
  • Analyze financial results and prepare reporting procedures on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Manage and develop all budget and cost containment procedures
  • Beyond the responsibility of managing financial data, a successful Business Manager will be expected to analyze and present a variety of financial scenarios
  • Review monthly financial close and prepare adjusting entries
  • Preparation of payroll, commissions and other financial reporting as required
  • Constant evaluation of expense controls and procedures
  • Work on special projects and acquisitions as needed

 

Skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong general ledger accounting
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Quick Books or other accounting software and database management software
  • Demonstrated history of preparing and presenting financial statements
  • Familiar with FCC compliances
  • Ability to work under deadlines

 

Experience

  • 3-5 years experience accounting or financial background
  • Radio and/or media experienced preferred but not required

 

Education

  • Accounting, Finance or Business degree
