Ad Agency New Business Development

This person will be responsible for obtaining new client advertisers for the agency, as well as managing existing accounts.

Duties include some of the following:

  • communicate regularly with client on status of creative projects
  • actively seek additional projects/new business through client contacts and through cold-calling
  • effectively present, sell and defend all agency work/proposals to clients
  • coordinate agency efforts on behalf of assigned accounts
  • receive client briefings and prepare reports for appropriate agency personnel
  • maintain current status reports for all assigned accounts and projects
  • keep appraised of clientfs brands/products/services/marketing developments
  • assist in preparation of client invoices, proposals, marketing and communications
  • check and approve creative materials
  • coordinate product project timing and budgets with all relevant personnel
  • report weekly to account supervisors
  • familiarity with broadcast and outdoor/print
  • foresight to identify threats/opportunities to client's business
  • provide input on campaign results
  • develop initiatives to grow the business of both the client and the agency
  • consult with creative departments to communicate client objectives and develop alternate strategic solutions.

Some requirements can be:

  • AE/Agency experience
  • proven relationship-building skills
  • logical and analytical, yet capable of linear thought
  • excellent presentation skills, ability to argue a point of view coherently and concretely
  • experience in the industry that the agency will be assigning you client accounts to
  • ability to come up with creative advertising solutions independently, as well as through team brainstorming
  • ability to follow-up with clients and follow-through on requests with a keen eye for detail

If the New Business Development person is successful they can expect to transition into more of an account management role. This can lead to a supervisory role within the agency, such as an Account Director who ensures the staff reporting to them are managing the appropriate accounts effectively, or a Creative Director role.
